MessageYes,

I did received the mail, but I haven't found time to download the VPN client and test it.

I hope to find time to test it in the next couple of weeks.

Have a nice day

  Gianluca,

Did you get the e-mail below and were you able to download the client, install, and debug the problem?

  Bill

  Gianluca,

Thanks for your reply. What we've found is just by installing the SonicWall Global VPN client we see the problem (i.e. you don't need to use the software or configure it, just install and the problem should occur).

The software can be downloaded from the following link:
  http://help.mysonicwall.com/applications/vpnclient/

Before you install, make sure you create a system restore point!

You should be able to verify networking is working before installation using ipconfig.
After installation and reboot, you should see that Ethernet and Wireless networking (if you have it) no longer show up using ipconfig.

I'm running on a WinXP Professional, Version 2002, SP2 system.

Are you willing to give it a try? I was just looking at installing coLinux on my machine and noticed that some of the instructions indicated that winpcap was used for that as well (which would be another source of incompatibility for me).

Let me know if there is anything I can do and whether you plan to give it a try...

  Thanks,

    William,

it seems some sort of incompatibility between WinPcap and the SonicWall VPN software. Since we do not have such VPN client software to perform any test, at the moment there's no workaround to this issue.

    I'm sorry for that.

    Have a nice day

      Dear WinPcap Support Team,

I'm having trouble with what I believe is an installation conflict between WinPcap (3.1) and SonicWALL Global VPN Client, Version 3.1.0.556.

I recently switched to a Dell 510 Laptop with SonicWall VPN software for connection to our corporate network. Before installing Ethereal 0.10.14 (which I believe installs Winpcap 3.1 automatically), everything works fine.

Once I install Ethereal, on the next reboot, I no longer have access to my wireless or wired Ethernet adapters. Normally, an ipconfig /all looks like:

      C:\>ipconfig /all

      Windows IP Configuration

              Physical Address. . . . . . . . . : 00-14-A5-40-63-B4

After the installation of WinPcap, the Ethernet adapter local area connection and the Ethernet adapter wireless connection entries do not show up. Uninstalling WinPCap at this point does not fix the problem! In order to get my computer working again, I have to do a System Restore to a point before the WinPCap was installed.

I put in a bug to Ethereal and they indicated this is a known issue, but that the WinPCap team would have to handle it. I didn't see a way to search through your archives for this issue, so I'm not sure if you have a work-around for it.

I would be willing to help debug on my end if you would like to try any debugging experiments.

I love your software and Ethereal and hate that I can't use this really great tool on my new computer!

      Thanks for your help,
