Hi,
I just installed Windows Vista Home Premium edition, and now Ethereal won't capture. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the newest Winpcap version from your site and also installed the newest version of Ethereal. This worked fine on Windows XP but now when I try to capture packets, none are captured. I can get the list of network adapters but nothing else. I tried using WinDump with the same result: I can get the list of adapters but none of them capture any packets. I have looked through the documentation, and it says Winpcap works with Vista; not the case with me. The FAQ turned up one possible solution: to install and run Winpcap and Ethereal with administrator privleges. I have done this because the only account on the computer is the Administrator. Still, it will not work. One FAQ answer also said to run the application (Ethereal) by right clicking on the executable and selecting "Run as Administrator". I have also tried this but it still will not capture. I also have disabled
the User Account Control.
It would be great if you could provide me with a working solution. I appreciate your time! Thanks!
