Volker,

did you start nmap (or the command prompt you run nmap into) with elevated privileges, i.e. right clicking on the nmap (or command prompt) link and using "run as administrator"?

It's entirely possible that you are hitting the <sarcastic>wonderful</sarcastic> User Access Control (UAC) that Microsoft introduced in Vista...

Have a nice day
GV

  Hi,

I have some problems with winpcap.

  1. If I run nmap I always get "dnet: Failed do open device eth4"
  2. Wireshark does not display the IP-adress of the ethernet interface

  WinPcap version 4.0
  OS: Windows Vista Business Edition
NIC: Broadcom NetXtreme Gigabit Ethernet / Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 2915ABG Network Connection
Software: Windows Firewall, Lenevo Thinkvantage Access Connections 4.41
