  WinPcap version = 4.0.2

   the output of windump -D 

   Computer = IBM ThinkCentre

   OS platform = Windows XP Professional x86 32bit 

   Network adapter = Intel PRO/1000 MT 

   No Firewall or VPN Clients 

   

   

   

   

  The snort -W command works fine to identify network device, when using network device identity below is when the error is received...

You need to type the full device name, which is \Device\NPF_{E90F5900-8C72-43A8-B6F4-03C16D2C6652}
