WinPcap doesn't support dialup on Vista because the Microsoft component we use to capture from dialup (NetMon) is not available by default on Vista (it's a separate package that you need to download from the Microsoft website). And even if you install it, the new version of netmon (3.x) is not compatible with WinPcap (and the new netmon API doesn't seem to be available).
We know of a couple ways to capture dialup traffic on Vista (both involving a new driver just for vista), but given the small amount of requests for such feature, so far we haven't spent any effort in this direction.
Have a nice day

Subject: [Winpcap-bugs] Winpcap 4.0.2 - capturing from dialup/VPN adaptersis not supported.
Hello
I am new to this sort of thing, so I am not sure what to write. I wrote to Cace, and was advised to post to this mailing list. I use a program called Download Studio, which uses Winpcap for packet capture. I have recently bought a new computer with Windows Vista Home Premium installed, and I migrated the program to the new computer. I find that now the program does not detect my broadband dial-up modem. I wrote to Conceiva, the software developers, and they say this is because the Vista compatible version of Winpcap does not support dial-up modems. I have confirmed this myself, by consulting the Winpcap FAQ (Q. 28). I am wondering why this is, and how likely it is that support will be extended to dial-up modems. (I am currently running Winpcap version 4.0.2, and my modem is a Thomson SpeedTouch 330 USB ADSL.)
