  Hello.
I successfully installed WinPcap_4_1_1_nonsweb.exe on my server. Wireshark up and running and can capture packets.

On one of wizard pages it show me that information. Is that ok, that all of them are false?:

It's perfectly fine. Windows 7 is the OS family (and Win7 groups both Win7 and all the Win2k8R2 flavors). Those components are marked on false because they are not available on Win7/2k8R2. I was a bit overzealous in leaving all that debugging information in the installer pages. In the next release of WinPcap I plan to hide that information.

  System Information

Operating system detected on registry: Windows 7 - AMD64
  True operating system (kernel.dll): Windows 7 - AMD64
npptools.dll present on the system: false
netnm.inf present on the system: false
nmnt.sys present on the system: false

My operating system is "Microsoft Hyper-V Server 2008 R2".
it is a bit similar to "Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2" Core Installation.
and its NOT a "Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2" with Hyper-V role.

"Microsoft Hyper-V Server 2008 R2" is a standalone baremetal operating system for visualization (like VMWare ESX)
It has no GUI, just cmd and powershell.

So if it doesn't have any GUI, how do you run wireshark?

Have a nice day
GV

  Best wishes,
  Savva.

I exchanged some pvt emails with Savva, it looks like the problem is that his installation doesn't have internet explorer, and the WinPcap installer does require IE for some of the wizard pages.

      FYI:

I have successfully installed WinPcap 4.1.1 on Windows Server 2008 R2 with the Hyper-V role installed and running.

I had no crashes or other issues.

My Hardware is a Dell PowerEdge 2900 with latest BIOS and Drivers.

We have never tested WinPcap on an hyper-v server. Does the installer crash or you get a blue screen?

        Hello!
        I cannot install 4.1.1 on hyper-v server 2008.
        It crashes immediately after starting.

        Help!
