[Winpcap-users] Question on re-distributing pcap

First of all: according to our licence you have the right to
redistribute WinPcap binaries and sources wherever you want, including
CDs and web sites. So, feel free to do whatever you want.

On the other side, we normally *suggest* to direct your users to the
winpcap site for downloads, for a simple reason: WinPcap is more than a
library that you link to your application, it's a complex system that
includes kernel-level components too. These components are not trivial
to install and uninstall, and are potentially shared by many
applications. If you stick to a specific version of WinPcap, you miss
the benfits of our upgrades and bugfixes (we're going to release a new
version with many fixes in the next weeks...), and you run the risk of
breaking compatibility with other tools that may run on the same machine.
