[Winpcap-users] Strange start problem on newer Dell computers

I have got a strange problem with newer Dell computers. We have been
using WinPCap since version 2.3 and are currently using version 3.1. We
have it out in the field on many computers where we use it for
communication between the PC and micro controllers via our custom
protocol (raw packets). It is rock solid and the systems might run for a
year with no stops and reboots. Cadeau to you for that stability.

The propblem we have seen lately on brand new computers (latest WinXP
pro - whatever Dell sends us) is that it takes forever to start our SW
with the WinPCap the first time after reboot. Once going everything is
normal. The SW can be stopped and restarted with no problem. It's only
the first time after reboot and it doesn't happen on e.g. my own 9 month
old PC (Dell laptop with latest Win XP Pro via automatic update). One
more clue is that the delay goes away if all windows supplied protocols
like TCP/IP are disabled for the netcard in use. However, we will
gradually switch to TCP and UDP over IP, so that is not a solution -
just a band-aid.

I don't know if this issue has been addressed on this list, but if so
please direct me to the solution. If not, I can dig deeper into my code
on one of these PC's to get more specific.

Please advise,

Jens.
