Hello Gianluca,

You are right, I have to stop and restart the service Npf.

I think the problem is on the NPF driver part, is it correct? Do you have
any idea about the ways to solve this problem? I’m going to study how the
driver works but I’m not a driver specialist!

Thanks a lot for your help.

Best regards,

Yann

Have you tried either rebooting or restarting the WinPcap capture driver
after having inserted the PCMCIA cards?

You can restart the driver by opening a command prompt and typing

"net stop start" and then "net start npf"

Hope it helps

GV

Subject: [Winpcap-users] Packet32.PacketOpenAdapterNPF: CreateFileA
failedwith error 2 (file not found)

Hi all,

I work with WinPcap 4.0 beta 3 on a Dell Inspiron laptop. The OS is a Win XP
Pro SP2.

My problem is that all PCMCIA cards aren’t found (error 2) by CreateFileA(),
called by PacketOpenAdapterNPF() function of the source file ‘Packet32.c’.
I’ve done my tests with Sony Ericsson GC79 and Option GlobeTrotter PCMCIA
cards.

I’ve searched in the archive of the Winpcap mailing list but I’ve not found
any explanation or solution to my problem.

Please anyone can help me?

Thanks a lot for your help,

Best regards

Yann
