You can certainly use WinPcap for that. The frames that WinPcap delivers contain the link layer information.

Have a nice day

Subject: [Winpcap-users] Can I sniff the frame MAC addresses using Winpcap??

  Dear All,

I am developing a Radius server using winsock2 with Win32 C++ using Visual C++ 2005 Express Edition on windows xp pro. However, I need to extract the source and destination IP addresses and source and destination MAC addresses as well from the received packet at the server side.

I thought to use raw socket, but I found that the MAC addresses are deleted on the link lyre. I wonder if there is a possibility to use the Winpcap functions in order to extract the information of frame header (source and destination MAC & IP addresses).

  Your help is much appreciated

  Regards

  Bassam
