[Winpcap-users] Basic queries about the Windump Utility

Tanmaya,

1. not possible. Packets are looped back inside the TCP/IP protocol driver and WinPcap works below that driver.
2. Capture: yes. Decrypt: no. But I know that wireshark can decrypt HTTPS traffic.
3. See my answer 1.

Dear All, 

I am a fresher (Trainee) here and during the course of my work I have come across the Windump utility and i had a few basic questions, 

1. Is it possible to capture data between an application and database running on the same machine ? 

2. Is Windump able to capture Https data where a static encryption key has been used ? 

3. In case 1 what is the reason for Windump's failure in this case ? 

4. Are there any known compatibility issues of Windump with Windows 7, Windows Server 2008?
